We did it again, folks! Last Saturday, Sports Backers hosted Richmond's annual International Dragon Boat Festival at Rocketts Landing. Though the skies were cloudy, hundreds of people came together for the Chinese cultural festival along the James River. We welcomed families, friends and couples from across RVA (and beyond!) to our riverbanks to cheer on the rowers and celebrate the moment — and what a blast everyone had at our riverbanks.
History truly abounds at Rocketts Landing, and we love learning all the centuries-old stories hiding beneath the seams. Recently, we posted a blog detailing Rocketts Landing as a Land of Opportunity as the first in a two-part series showcasing all the history alive here along the James River. Today, we share the second blog in our series, featuring the historic buildings on our property and how they made this unique community thrive.
The time has arrived, friends! This Saturday, the 5th annual Walgreens Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival lands on the banks of the James River at Rocketts Landing. From races to dances to food and beyond, the Dragon Boat Race is turning into one stellar tradition here, so much that Richmond.com has named it a "Best of Outdoors Favorite" three years in a row! So, if you've not yet checked out the event (or if you've been anxiously waiting for the day to arrive), we're ready to welcom...
Recently, we've been welcoming many new Rocketts Landing homeowners here right around the river. And, with only five original condos left for sale, your chance to own one of our community’s first homes is going quickly! Pair that with reduced prices on our remaining condos, and now's a great time to embrace a new riverfront lifestyle. Our two featured homes are located in the Fall Line building — and are some of the last condos available with views of the James River!
This Thursday, Rockttets Art Studios at Rocketts Landing opens their doors for Christmas in July to help you get a head start on your gifts and inspirations. Featuring everything from an art raffle to an art-filled Christmas tree to seasonal drinks and treats, RAS' holiday-themed event is both art exhibition and celebration — and they're inviting you to the party!
Rocketts Art Studios (RAS) is Rocketts Landing’s only working art studio — and with resident Tom Yeaman as its owner, RAS has an even closer tie to our community. We've enjoyed experiencing all the art they're sharing. So, we decided to dig deeper into the studio and chat with Tom about opening shop here at Rocketts Landing, as well as his deep ties to RVA. Below is our edited Q&A. Enjoy!
The summer event season is cooking here at Rocketts Landing — and one of our favorite annual festivals is less than a month away! That’s right, friends, the Walgreen’s Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival is August 2, which means you still have time to register your team for this awesome racing experience.
Here at Rocketts Landing, we love when novel concepts meet delicious experiences. And we enjoy them even more when they're tied to businesses in our riverfront community. So, when The Boathouse launched their recent "Dinner in the Field" dining event, we knew had to check out their newest initiative! And in a nutshell, Dinner in the Field is intimately foodtastic.
Rocketts Landing's vibrant riverfront community has been around since 2007. But, our neighborhood's connection to Richmond and the James River is much older — and we love the history pulsing underneath and within our community every day! So, we've decided to dissect and share some of the stories with you in a two-part blog showcasing the unique history that helps to make Rocketts Landing who we are today.
Rocketts Landing residents get to enjoy access to riverfront garden plots, where they can garden to their green thumbs' content! From flowers to veggies to herbs and beyond, we love seeing our residents' plots grow verdant and bountiful throughout the season. With the summer and growing season moving along, we stopped by the plots today to see how the gardens look. So, we thought we'd share some photo highlights of the community gardens at Rocketts Landing. Enjoy!
