Rocketts Landing residents are at it again -- having a good time, that is! This past weekend, they celebrated the newly budding fall season with the Social Committee's Fish Fry Social along the James River. On Sept. 23, nearly 30 residents came out to the lawn by our community pool with their lawn chairs and coolers in hand, ready to mingle on a sun-filled Sunday.
The thick summer days are behind us and what better way to celebrate than by heading outside to Rocketts Landing for one of our lively events this weekend! We have two different fundraisers rockin' along the banks of the James River, and we're thrilled to bring Richmond together for some good vibes and great times.
You know the old adage, "A can of paint is the best art teacher"? Okay, we admit, we made that one up -- but for the artists currently featured in Cedar Works Gallery, they've embraced this perspective and built their craft from the paint can up. This fall, Curator Meredith Timberlake highlights the power of untrained talent in the gallery's most recent show, which puts local artists James Timberlake and Josh Woods side by side in a colorful display.
If there's one thing Rocketts Landing residents are good at, it's living an active, fit lifestyle both within and outside our community. From kayaking to cycling to running, our residents seem to always be busy doing something -- and now they can add yoga to their Rocketts athletic list.
Man, oh man, where did the summer go? It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming summer at Rocketts Landing with our Memorial Day celebration, Rocketts Red Glare, and getting ready for all the seasonal activities bustling in our community. But, just because summer's over doesn't mean we run out of things to do here. While the Rocketts Landing community pool is now closed (operating dates are from Memorial Day to Labor Day), plenty of activities and events still abound for residents and vi...
Here's one for the history books, Richmond: Our historic Cedar Works Warehouse has finally broken ground for renovation -- and we couldn't be more pleased by the development!
Here at Rocketts Landing, we think of our residents and commercial tenants like family. So, we're thrilled to announce a new addition to our growing brood: Rawls McNelis + Mitchell, a law firm specializing in complex medical cases. Our newest commercial tenant just moved into 211 Rocketts Way (also our former sales center), and they've definitely made themselves quickly at home!
We love hosting events at Rocketts Landing -- from triathlons to gallery openings to fundraisers. And when we discover an event that combines athletics, community support and good times, we jump at the opportunity to get involved. So, we were honored (and excited) when VCU Massey Cancer Center asked us to host their annual Ride for Jim event, which raises money for medical students to complete cancer research fellowships.
Last Saturday, thousands of ducks landed at Rocketts Landing -- and we couldn’t have been more excited for their arrival. Of course, we weren't overtaken by real waterfowl, but rather little rubber duckies that floated down the James River as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters 23rd Annual Duck Race.
There's no doubt that the James River is Richmond's backbone. Heck, we've built our whole Rocketts Landing community around this great natural landmark (and love every minute here!). So, when we heard about a Richmonder organizing monthly walks to raise awareness and support for improved river access and use, we knew we had to learn more!
