Feeling the end of a workday and itching to get outside and enjoy summer? You don't need to play hooky to seize an outdoors moment -- winding down from work on the James River is easier than your evening commute when you take advantage of Rocketts Landing's marina.
Richmond Multisports did it again! Last weekend, almost 400 athletes came out to compete in our annual Rocketts Landing Triathlon/Duathlon -- creating one heck of a competition along the James River.
Look out summer heat -- the Rocketts Landing Triathlon/Duathlon is this weekend, and the event's shaping up to be one of our hottest races yet. But, we're not talking about record temperatures (we're actually thrilled to hear the weather's supposed to be around the high 80s rather than last year's triple digits!). With some new race upgrades and fantastic community support, this year's event is better than ever.
Summer is definitely a great time for our Rocketts Landing community. Although the recent heat left all of Richmond sweltering over the past few weeks, the action never stopped along the James River -- which is just the way we like it! From welcoming hungry patrons at our community's restaurants to hosting the 9th Annual Rocketts Landing Sprints Regatta (with more events around the corner!), we've stayed busy supporting an engaging riverside lifestyle.
Rocketts Landing residents who live in our historic Cedar Works building not only experience a part of Richmond's past (Cedar Works once manufactured ice cream freezers and decorative woodenware) -- they also get to peruse their own private art gallery in the building's lobby! Curated by Meredith Timberlake, whose parents live in Cedar Works, the gallery features both up-and-coming and established Richmond artists in rotating exhibits. And their current show "Beecycles" by Matt Lively is not ...
For companies seeking a home to hang their proverbial hat, Rocketts Landing's commercial spaces are more than a place to do business. With our riverfront location and vibrant community as a professional backdrop, Rocketts Landing provides a laid-back yet sophisticated work environment (just ask our employees!).
Our buildings may be modern, but Rocketts Landing is pleasantly seeped in history. From the old electric power plant that used to fuel Richmond's trolleys (which were the country's first) and now houses The Boathouse restaurant to the historic beer caves used for storage by James River Steam Brewery in the mid-1800s (and run by D. G. Yuengling, Jr.), history abounds at nearly every turn.
Richmond is certainly a passionate River City: While our hometown currently leads Outdoors Magazine's quest to find the Best Outdoors City, Rocketts Landing is staying busy hosting a variety of outdoor events along the James River. And last weekend's 9th Annual Rocketts Landing Sprints Regatta is awesome proof of just how much the James River matters to Richmonders -- and our community.
With summer officially here, we can't imagine a better way to celebrate than our 9th Annual Rocketts Landing Sprints Regatta this Saturday! Our annual Sprints Regatta attracts rowing clubs from across the Greater Atlantic region for strong rowing competition, a tradition along the James River dating back to the late 1800s. And after months of preparation and planning by regatta host Virginia Boat Club (who also is based out of Rocketts Landing), we know this year's event will be better than e...
