Get ready for holiday festivity, friends -- the 19th Annual James River Parade of Lights takes place this Saturday, December 10. And we can't wait to sit outside at Rocketts Landing wrapped in blankets, sip hot cocoa and oooh and aaah as the decorated boats float by.

Fresh talent and creativity is certainly in the air right now at Rocketts Landing -- and we're loving the vibe around here. Not only is Art 180's traveling installation "What Do You Stand For?" visiting our community, our residents' Cedar Works art gallery just opened a new show, "Urbanesque," featuring some of Richmond's emerging artists.

Last week, we detailed the fall Oyster Roast many Rocketts Landing residents enjoyed on the Sky Line terrace. An annual event hosted by their social committee, the gathering is part fall celebration/part fundraiser to help raise money for Fulton Hill families in need for the Thanksgiving Holiday. And let us just say how continually impressed we are with our residents!

At Rocketts Landing, art and everyday life frequently coincide. From our Deep Water Sponger sculpture overlooking the James River to the Cedar Works art gallery showcasing Richmond-based artists (and sometimes, even residents!) and more, you could say creativity is a way of life at Rocketts Landing. And next week, Art 180 will bring their newest installation project, "What Do You Stand For?" to our community for an inspiring month-long outdoor display.

At Rocketts Landing, we're certainly no strangers to history. Not only do we have a few buildings in our community dating back to the 19th century (our residential building Cedar Works, for example), we also have something you may not find anywhere else in Richmond: beer caves. And this past Sunday, we welcomed the 2nd annual BEER-istoric Tour of Richmond to our community to visit the caves and learn about Rocketts' role in local beer history.

Get ready, water sport lovers -- you're about to see more action on the James River. After 10 years without a boathouse to call their own, the University of Richmond's rowing club has found their home base: Rocketts Landing's Raft Building.

If there's one thing Rocketts Landing residents know how to do well, it's having a good time together. And nothing better epitomizes their fun than the array of fall Social Committee events this year.
