Rocketts Landing Residents Run SunTrust Richmond Marathon

Post Date: 11-15-2011

When it comes to energy, engagement and activity, perhaps there's something in the water at Rocketts Landing, because we're continually impressed with the lifestyles our residents enjoy.

From gathering for frequent social events to spending a night out together at one of our community's restaurants, Rocketts Landing residents are certainly social people who enjoy life. They also tend to be incredibly active. And nothing showcases their energy better than the array of residents who just wrapped up running in last weekend's SunTrust Richmond Marathon.

As an annual event, the SunTrust Marathon winds runners through downtown Richmond to compete in a full and half marathon, and 8k run. And on Saturday, Nov. 12, at least eight of our community’s residents participated in the race — including the majority of our Cedar Works fifth floor — with huge smiles to show for their successes. In fact, one of our Cedar Works residents and Sales Manager Amy Broderick said they frequently bumped into each other at the gym while training for the event.

So, to celebrate their success finishing the race and commend them on their physical feats, we thought we’d share a list of some of the Rocketts Landing race participants:

Cedar Works Residents

  • Amy Broderick: Half marathon
  • Andrew Van Deren: Marathon
  • John Greis: Marathon
  • Mark Anderson: Half marathon
  • Merrick Platt: 8k

Fall Line Residents

  • Barry Lewis: Half marathon
  • Julie Mabie: 8k

If you’re a Rocketts Landing resident and you happen to know any of the race participants, be sure to give them a high five for their efforts. And don’t be surprised if you see them walking through our community in their sweaty exercise clothes — more Richmond races are coming our way in 2012 (including some at Rocketts Landing), and we bet they have their names all over at least one of the events!
