Rocketts Landing Residents Celebrate Fall With Annual Oyster Roast

Post Date: 11-25-2013
'Tis the season for gathering with friends and family — and, as usual, our Rocketts Landing residents wasted no time finding an opportunity to get together and have fun! On November 16, the Rocketts Landing residents’ Social Committee hosted its annual fall Oyster Roast and Brunswick Stew gathering. Around 30 people came together for one heck of a fall feast along the banks of the James River. And though the weather was on the chillier side, the brisk temperatures didn’t dampen their exuberant spirits (In fact, we’ve yet to find a time when Rocketts Landing residents weren’t able to have fun together!).

This is the 5th year that The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing has donated oysters to the annual roast — and once again, they upheld their reputation for delivering the deliciousness. Partygoers enjoyed oysters that were served raw, roasted or grilled with garlic and Parmesan. And a tasty homemade cocktail sauce provided by the Social Committee completed the mix.

For those who also enjoy the cozy warmth of homemade stew, a huge batch of Brunswick Stew made an impressive presence. Generously cooked by Social Committee friend and Oregon Hill resident, Jennifer Harrelson, the stew rounded out an already delectable day.

Each building in our community has a social committee representative, so if you’re a resident and would like to learn more or get involved, be sure to reach out to them. Their next scheduled events are:

  • Holiday Party Chili Cook-Off in December
  • New Year’s Eve Party to ring in 2014

We’re truly thankful to attract Rocketts Landing residents who genuinely enjoy having a good time together — and we look forward to highlighting their next gathering!
