Disguised for Halloween hauntings
But look beneath their spooky
facades —
And you’ll find our residents out
jaunting!
Hosted by the Rocketts Landing social committee, the annual
Halloween party has become a tradition around here. The committee cooked up hot
dogs on an old-fashioned rotisserie machine and everyone brought some Halloween
treats to share. But, Sharon Payne, social committee president, was quick to
point out that the real excitement at this party is not the food (unlike their
upcoming oyster roast), but the awesome costumes and dancing!
With a “fantasy” theme (either a fantasy character or
someone they fantasize about being), this year’s fest brought out around 30
residents dressed to their Halloween-T. They had vampires, Santa and Mrs.
Claus, Alice in Wonderland and the Queen, to name a few. They crowned Sam Killen for Best Costume (mummy) from Fall Line amd Les
Shelton from Cedar Works as the winner for Best-Themed Costume (Hugh Hefner)! Both residents received $50 gift certificates to Casa
del Barco, the Mexican-inspired restaurant on RVA’s Canal Walk from the
owner of The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing, Kevin Healy.
We heard that partygoers danced well into the night enjoying
their ghoulish festivities. We’re also thrilled to hear these stories of
Rocketts Landing residents coming together to party! Next up on the calendar is
their annual Oyster Roast and Brunswick Stew Fall Fest. So if you’re a
resident, be sure to come our for another great event.
Happy Halloween everyone!
