Even during winter’s doldrums, our community frequently comes alive with exercise and activity. Virginia Capital Trail

After years in the making, the Virginia Capital Trail is closer than ever to completion. As a pedestrian-friendly trail that will link Richmond to Jamestown, the 55-mile-long path will bring unparalleled cycling, running and walking activities to our region. Once finished, the Trail will also run straight through our community. And organizers are currently removing the old train tracks along the Rocketts Landing riverfront to make way for the trail! Already, you can enjoy a nearly mile-long stretch that begins in downtown Richmond at the Canal Walk and finishes up at Great Shiplock Park — just a quick walk down from Rocketts Landing.

Accessible 24 hours a day, you can make sure you stay in your fittest shape, year round. Also, we’re currently in the process of upgrading all our fitness center equipments, so you’ll have access to the top exercise equipment.

Rocketts Landing “Beach” Volleyball Court

Located beside The Boathouse is Richmond’s only riverfront beach volleyball court. Both Rocketts Landing residents and the public are welcomed to use our courts. Cold or warm temperatures, rain or shine, we’ve seen people out there playing volleyball in all sorts of weather. So, if your volleyball jones hits, then feel free to hit our sandy court!

Virginia Boat Club

As one of the county’s oldest rowing clubs (founded in 1876), the Virginia Boat Club is a nonprofit with a long legacy of helping people stay fit through rowing. VBC is a membership-based organization and offers rowing classes to all experience levels, as well as opportunities to participate and compete in regattas (one of which is right here at Rocketts Landing, the Sprints Regatta!). During the off-season rowers stay busy inside the Boat Club training on ergs, high-tech rowing machines, offering year-round opportunities to stay fit, healthy and active!

Paddling/Boating on the James River

James River boating activities are alive year-round on the James River at Rocketts Landing. From kayaking and canoeing to paddleboarding and boating, you can take full advantage of all the river has to offer Richmond right in our own backyard. As a Rocketts Landing resident, you enjoy the added benefit of having a designated storage facility for your motorless water vessels. And if you own a boat, then you can always dock her at our marina!
