New Restaurant Mbargo Fills Former M Bistro Space at Rocketts Landing
Post Date: 05-08-2014
Great news, friends! We have a new restaurant coming to
Rocketts Landing that will fill a perfect niche in our community: Mbargo.
The former M Bistro & Wine Bar restaurant will soon become Mbargo.
When M Bistro & Wine bar closed this past winter after a
three-year run, we knew that just the right restaurant would come our way and
bring new dining options to Rocketts Landing. Now, in addition to our Key West–themed
restaurant Conch Republic and our seafood, wood-fired pizza–themed restaurant
The Boathouse, Mbargo will serve our community as an eatery and a market.
Owned by Steve Goodwin (of restaurant investment group HDC
Ventures) and Amy Roman (husband Mo Roman runs Pie), Mbargo will offer food for
in-house dining, as well as to-go options for, say, having a boating picnic on the James River! The menu will feature cuts of meat, sandwiches, salads and
more, and the Mbargo market within the eatery will also sell breakfast, lunch,
beer and wine. Plus, they'll offer a spot for grabbing a good cup of Joe in the
morning.
The owners currently are filing their ABC license for both
an ON- and OFF permit (this also includes a keg license), and the Mbargo bar
will apparently offer expansive options. The Mbargo team is currently working
hard and fast at their new spot to possibly get up and running at Rocketts
Landing by the end of the month. In the meantime, they're prepping to offer breakfast pastries and boxed lunches during this week's Cap2Cap bike ride.
As more details emerge on their opening, we'll be sure to keep you posted. Till then, we send a huge congratulations to Goodwin, Roman
and the rest of their team for launching Mbargo at Rocketts Landing! We look
forward to what's in store for our budding relationship right around the river.
