Rocketts Landing Residents Have a Halloween Bash

Post Date: 11-06-2012

What do you get when you combine Rocketts Landing residents with a "horror" costume theme? One heck of a Halloween party, that's what! On October 27, the residents' Social Committee gathered for a Halloween celebration complete with werewolves, zombies and ghosts (oh my!) -- and everyone put on their most horrifying best for a night to remember.

Around 40 residents came out for the fun in the community's gym, complete with food, drinks, music and a dance floor! Residents noshed and socialized in between ghoulish moments of spooky celebration. With many awesome getups in the mix, two residents took home prizes in the night's costume contest:

Lee Shelton from Cedar Works won first place for his Killer Clown costume (he’s also a multi-year winner!) and received a $300 piece of artwork donated by local artist Christy Guise from Queenfish Art.

Leslie Armstrong from Fall Line won second place for her costume as the haunting from The Ring movie and took home a gift certificate from Frame Nation.

But that’s not all they enjoyed! A raffle contest completed the night with gift certificates generously donated from the following area businesses:

  • 2113 bistro-lounge
  • 525 Berry Burke Building restaurant
  • Shockoe Bottom Crossfit (five free training sessions)
  • The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing
  • Conch Republic Rocketts
  • The Franklin Inn

If you’re a Rocketts Landing resident who’s not yet checked out the Social Committee, be sure to get involved. Each building in our community has a Committee representative you can contact to learn more about the variety of events they host throughout the year — and their fundraising efforts to help neighboring nonprofit the Neightborhood Resource Center.

Next event coming up? Their annual Oyster Roast this Saturday, November 10, at 3:00 p.m. So be sure to join the fun!
