Life at Rocketts Landing’s Fall Line Provides a Photographer’s View

Post Date: 10-19-2011

For Fall Line resident Dee Duffey, Rocketts Landing is more than a place to call home -- it's the backdrop for pursuing her passion full-time into retirement: photography. Today, Dee's photography is mostly a hobby, but her long-term goal is to turn her hobby into a career.

And Dee says she specifically chose Rocketts Landing with these thoughts in mind.

"I ultimately decided on Rocketts Landing because it offered so many more amenities than [other communities], and the ambiance of Rocketts is so much more appealing," Dee explains. "It's just a beautiful, diverse community nestled along the banks of the historic James River, with a stunning view of the Richmond skyline."

Originally a Southwest Virginia-native, Dee moved to Rocketts Landing after living in Midlothian for 12 years. Once she decided she was ready to move back into the city to better pursue her photography, she knew she’d found the home and life she desired in Fall Line.

“I love the building’s architectural style, along with the huge, neat red brick walkways and the lobby area that is just so elegant and always so well-maintained,” she says.

Ultimately, Dee chose her first-floor loft because she found the high ceilings and open floor plan the ideal space to create her own “art gallery.” She says her end unit provides the perfect view of the James River where she enjoys looking out of her “huge windows” to observe the wildlife and activity along the banks of the river. “It’s just so therapeutic!” she says. She’s also close to downtown and Church Hill, which makes taking a bike ride to capture the thrill of photography a cinch.
