From our gorgeous riverfront homes to our tasty restaurants, we think we're creating a pretty special community here along the James River. So, we were psyched when the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Richmond brought a group of people by to take in the views and learn more about what's happening at Rocketts Landing.
On September 25, our own Richard Souter, developer at WVS Companies, was on hand to guide 10 members of ULI's Young Leaders Group on a walking tour of what we’ve accomplished so far -- and our vision for the future. Souter showed attendees the Rocketts Landing Master Plan, which expands our current footprint to more than 20 city blocks! He also shared stories of the determination and creativity required to tackle a project like Rocketts Landing. And let's just say that building a vibrant, riverfront community is not for the faint of heart!
ULI’s Young Leaders got an inside view of the most exciting new projects on the horizon. After passing the Riverbank Terraces townhomes (scheduled for completion in just a few months!), the group walked down a gravel-covered path that will soon become a paved street to new apartments. From there, Souter explained how we plan to convert the old train tracks into the latest stretch of the Capital Trail — connecting Richmond to Williamsburg and running straight through Rocketts Landing.
Then, as is often the case on our tours, our famous Yuengling beer caves captured everyone’s attention, which we’ve always envisioned serving as a fabulous riverfront dining spot one day! And as the sun set over the James River, and the group walked from the beer caves toward the fantastic marina, restaurants, commercial spaces and homes that currently make up Rocketts Landing — we were really proud to see how far we’ve come.
We enjoyed a great visit with ULI Richmond and appreciated the thoughtful questions about Rocketts Landing and refreshing reminder of how much we — and RVA at large — enjoy our riverfront community!
