Life along the James River at Rocketts Landing certainly has its perks. Of course, we may be just a little biased about the lifestyle we enjoy here. But, when you can watch bald eagles soar over the horizon, catch huge bass while boating and spend your mornings or afternoons rowing (to name a few) all in your "backyard," our riverfront lifestyle easily becomes addictive.
When we hear others experiencing and enjoying the James River at Rocketts Landing in the ways we do, it's music to our ears. In fact, just last weekend, a group of Capital One employees from their IT department spent their Friday afternoon picnicking and playing along the James River. Over a dozen people were spotted kayaking and paddleboarding throughout the afternoon, which was the perfect way to wind down on the gorgeously sunny day!

And in just a couple of weeks on October 6, the Varina Lions Club is hosting their 21st Annual “Paddling for Sight” Canoe-A-Thon fundraiser. Launching on the James River at Rocketts Landing, paddlers will wind 10 miles downriver to Osborne Landing, raising money for local scholarships and to help the blind and seeing impaired. The public is invited to participate!
For those that enjoy rowing and boating, the Virginia Boat Club is also a fantastic way to get out on the James River at Rocketts Landing. Although there are only a few months left in the season for outdoor rowing action, members also get to enjoy the facilities year round to continue their rowing training. And for your fall season boating adventures, our marina offers direct slip access on both a long-term and transient rental basis.
So, grab your family and friends and get your fall river fix on the James River at Rocketts Landing. With great weather in the air and a variety of ways to enjoy the water, we can’t think of a more RVA way to celebrate the season!
