If you've experienced long waits trying to sit outside at Conch Republic Rocketts, have no fear -- The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing is currently expanding their outdoor dining deck. And they'll be ready for business on Sept. 5!
Just in time for our inaugural Labor Day event, Rocketts Red Glare, The Boathouse's new riverfront dining deck will extend seating and enable 40 patrons to have a full, riverfront dining service. Until now, The Boathouse customers have been able to enjoy outdoor drinks and dining at bar tables on a more intimate patio by the bar. Upon the new dining deck's completion, however, patrons will now have two levels of full outdoor dining access. The upper deck will be accessible for regular restaurant customers, while they’ll reserve the lower deck for special events in their Riverview Room.
But the new dining deck isn’t the only addition to The Boathouse experience. Three weeks ago, they also added iPads to their table service! Now, when they seat patrons, every table receives its own iPad to use when selecting a wine to drink and appropriately pair with their meal. Thus far, owner Kevin Healy says the response to the new service system has been great, and they are currently updating the program for a more engaging experience.
“It’s an interactive tool that’s fun and informative, and helps people order that may be intimidated or uncomfortable discussing wine,” says Kevin.
If you’re planning on attending our Rocketts Red Glare event (which we hope you are!), The Boathouse also has a special event in the works for you: a VIP Lobster Bake. By reservation only, patrons will enjoy a lobster dinner in their Riverview View room where you can listen to the Richmond Symphony Orchestra play while taking in the views and sounds of fireworks bursting over the river.
So be sure to stop by The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing and enjoy a view from their new dining deck. Whether you’re watching fireworks or eating rockfish (which is in season soon), this a view you won’t want to miss!
