Abstract painting by Diane Clement and clayworks by David Camden.
With Clement, her current work brings a minimalist feeling
to her paintings. Using negative space and bold colors, she seems to invite you
to explore emotion by venturing between the obvious lines of sweeping brush
strokes and paint drops (evoking Jackson Pollock). Whether in black-and-white
or an array of color work, Clement's paintings are equally whimsical, haunting
and surreal — leaving you with a lasting impression.
Clement's new abstract works are minimal and evocative.
Meanwhile, Camden (who in addition to painting also teaches
at numerous art centers across Richmond, such as the Visual Arts Center)
showcases claywork that unites smooth lines and texture with the unexpected,
such as human heads atop a humanless form. Both functional and figurative, and
with subtle color accents against earth tones and glazes, Camden's clayworks
evoke fun, sophistication and elegance, perfect for adding to a collection or
showcasing at your next cocktail party.
