The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing Hosts March Wine Sampling

When you're looking for a unique beer or wine event, chances are that The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing has just what you need. While we've been reminiscing over the delicious beers we recently sampled on their Virginia Craft Beer Tour, they've been busy planning yet another event for the wine lovers: a March Wine Sampling.

As a complimentary event happening this evening, March 14, The Boathouse will guide guests through six wines hailing from the ever-popular wine regions of Italy, California and New Zealand. The Boathouse's Director of Wine (and Rocketts Landing resident) Michael Avery and The Country Vintner representative David Forchielli will lead the sampling of a sparkling wine, along with whites and reds. Some of the highlights guests will explore include:

  • Cantina Montelliana Extra Dry Prosecco Treviso DOC, Italy NV: This sparkling wine is made according to the natural fermentation Charmat method and produced with grapes cultivated in the Montello and Asolo hill areas.
  • Talbott Sleepy Hollow Vineyard Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands, California 2010: Featuring handpicked grapes that are barrel-aged for 12 months in French Oak and 30 percent new oak, Michael says this wine is an “excellent food wine.”
  • Wild Earth Pinot Noir Central Otago, New Zealand 2008: Red lovers will enjoy this deep ruby wine with aromas of old roses, briar and a hint of vanilla.

The Boathouse has two wine sampling events in March, and tonight’s flight experience is the only one happening at their Rocketts Landing location. So, be sure to grab a friend or loved one and make your reservation. Featured bottles will also be available to purchase at half price — making tonight even tastier!
