One thing's for sure at Rocketts Landing: If there's a reason to party, our residents' Social Committee is already hard at work planning their celebration. As soon as we cover one event, such as their New Year's Eve bash, it seems they've already gathered together with delicious food and drinks to celebrate yet again with Rocketts Landing neighbors and friends (so much that we're considering a name change to Social Landing!). And with this past weekend's Super Bowl party, they've continued living up to their reputation.
Hosted each year by Rocketts Landing Fall Line residents Ken and Linda Aspinall, around 60 people gathered to watch the Giants take on the Patriots with all the makings of a football tailgate: football attire, cold drinks, buffalo wings, chili, assorted dips and homemade guacamole, and even bacon-wrapped scallops for added zest. They had a football pool producing quarterly winners and plenty of viewing opportunities in the game room, den and even the kitchen (not to mention a stellar river view).
And while their party certainly focused on the Super Bowl, another theme was also in the air: neighborhood camaraderie.
“Rocketts Landing residents love getting together for neighborhood events,” says Social Committee President Sharon Payne. “We are very appreciate of the Aspinalls for opening up their home to accomodate such a large, singular gathering!”
In fact, our residents’ readiness to have a good time at the drop of a hat is one of the many things we love about them. So, while we admit that we’re not really going to change our name to Social Landing — sorry, residents — we are starting to feel that we might need to get in on some of this party action. And if you’re a Rocketts Landing resident and you’ve yet to join the fun, you just might want to rally on the field, too.
