Get ready James River boaters -- if you enjoy perusing Rocketts Landing after being out on the water but don't live in our community, then our new boat slips are just for you. We are currently hard at work expanding our marina to accommodate transient boaters, so you can more easily stop, dock and play at Rocketts Landing.
Construction on the slips started last November with an anticipated completion date of April 1, 2012 -- just in time for boating season to begin! An additional 15 slips will be added during this development phase, providing much-needed landing access for boaters who want to stop into town before heading back down the James River. The new slips will be directly located at the base of our community's popular riverfront restaurants, The Boathouse and Conch Republic, providing more immediate dining accessibility.
“This will be a big improvement to the marina, because it has a fuel dock that will make boating much more convenient at Rocketts Landing,” explains WVS Companies Vice President Jason Vickers-Smith. “The new slips will also add activity to the waterfront, and there will be programs with the restaurants for transient boaters.”
While we’re anxiously anticipating the completion of these new slips, we also are excited about what’s in store down the road. We have 30 more boat slips waiting to be built at our marina, providing an even livelier boating experience here at Rocketts Landing. So, whether you want to grab a bite at one of our community’s restaurants or stroll into downtown Richmond via the Virginia Capital Trail, the marina’s new boat slips will provide the access you want.
We look forward to seeing you at Rocketts Landing!
